What's Happening Around the District

Pesticide & Herbicide

Significant changes were made several years ago in the use and application of chemicals throughout the community. The District implemented updated treatment methods for tree and landscaping care that ensured the safety of our community's children, pets, and wildlife. The pesticides are applied by a State certified technician. These safety measures come at a higher cost, however, the continued safety and well-being of our residents and animals are a top priority. In the past, certain treatments involved the soaking or spraying of products in and around affected areas. These methods were replaced, with more targeted application techniques, including direct trunk injections and drilling treatments administered within affected trees. Treatments are performed by a certified pesticide applicator and are designed to minimize environmental exposure while effectively maintaining the health and longevity of the community's trees and landscape. The Metro District continues to be committed to balancing responsible landscape management with the safety and quality of life of those who live, work, and recreate within our community.
